Petty
All-purpose knife, petty, with a 168 mm long blade.
Wakui has rounded off all edges and given the blade soft contours. He skillfully tapers the blades (narrowing from spine to tip), resulting in a knife that feels excellent in the hand. The handle is octagonal, made of ebony with a bolster in black pakkawood.
Toshihiro Wakui is a highly talented craftsman who creates very well-forged knives in carbon steel. In this series, he uses Aogami #2 core steel, which he combines with a cladding of Damascus steel (hon warikomi). While it is common for blacksmiths to purchase pre-laminated steel, Wakui now forges his own blade material to achieve exactly the result he desires.
