Wakui is an exceptionally talented blacksmith who creates beautiful carbon steel knives. The core steel used is Aogami#2, clad with iron. The handle is octagonal and made from ho wood with a buffalo horn bolster. Wakui hails from Sanjo, a city in western Japan known for its renowned blacksmiths like Yoshikane and Shigefusa. The meticulous forging of Wakui’s blades shows clear similarities to those of Shigefusa, especially in the expert tapering of the blades. The spine is well-rounded for comfort, and the edge is incredibly thin and sharp.
Note: Aogami#2 is a carbon steel that is not stainless. Take extra care when using the knife, as the thin and very hard edge can easily be damaged when cutting through harder materials.
