Toshihiro Wakui is a highly skilled blacksmith who crafts beautiful carbon steel knives. The core steel is Aogami #2, hand-laminated with an iron cladding. Wakui hails from Sanjo, a city in western Japan known for its renowned blacksmiths, including Yoshikane and Shigefusa. You can clearly see similarities between Wakui’s and Shigefusa’s blades in the meticulous craftsmanship. Wakui expertly tapers the blades, ensuring a well-rounded spine for comfortable handling, and most importantly, an incredibly thin and sharp edge.
