Sujihiki
A short and nimble sujihiki with a 212 mm long blade.
Toshihiro Wakui is highly skilled and crafts exceptionally well-forged knives in carbon steel. In this series, he uses Aogami#2 as the core steel, which he forges together with a damascus steel cladding (hon warikomi). Typically, blacksmiths purchase pre-laminated steel, but Wakui forges his own blade material to achieve the exact characteristics he desires.
Wakui has rounded all the edges and given the blade smooth contours. He skillfully tapers the blade (thinning from the spine to the tip), ensuring excellent balance and a comfortable grip. The handle is octagonal and made of ebony with a pakkawood bolster.
