Dao Vua has significantly improved their knife production. In this new series, the company has invested in Japanese grinding wheels to thin the blades, giving each knife a more consistent and refined edge. Their previous knives were well-loved, but many users desired thinner factory edges. In addition, they have introduced a new steel hardened to 61 HRC. Dao Vua has taken a step forward in quality with this change, making their knives incredibly sharp.

Each knife is sharpened and finely polished by CleanCut to ensure it arrives razor-sharp and ready for use in the kitchen. Dao Vua is Vietnam’s leading knife brand, known for its thin blades and perfect balance of weight and sharpness. Every knife is handcrafted, with minimal machine involvement during the entire production process. The steel used is a high-carbon monosteel, hardened to 61 HRC, making the knife not only razor-sharp but also easy to maintain.

In short, this is an affordable, handmade knife, even though Vietnam is not as renowned as Japan in the art of forging. This knife is an excellent choice for those seeking quality craftsmanship at a reasonable price.

Note: This is high-carbon steel, which is not stainless. Be sure to dry the knife thoroughly after use to prevent rust.

From the Manufacturer:

In 1288, during the second war against the Mongolian Empire (one of the most powerful of all time), General Tran Hung Dao retreated to the Thai Binh province to organize resistance against the Mongols. After winning the war, to commemorate the contributions of blacksmiths, King Tran Nhan Tong honored five masters of forging, known as the fathers of the forge profession in Vietnam. For over 730 years, the An Tiem handicraft village has kept this tradition alive, producing tools for agriculture across the country.

In 2016, the creativity of young artisans combined with the experience of master craftsmen in Vietnam’s oldest traditional village to create Dao Vua. This brand was founded to honor General Tran Hung Dao, King Tran Thai Tong, and the five masters of forging. Dao Vua restores the ancient knife-making methods through 22 secret steps, with the mission to bring high-quality handmade products to a global audience, making Vietnam’s craft respected worldwide.
