This honing rod has a very fine grain, bringing back great sharpment to your edge. Its especially good for thin japanese knives with delicate edges.
It will also withstand some abuse without breaking due to its metal core and plastic endcap. Its still ceramic though...
A ceramic honing rod is used to maintain the existing edge of your knife. The fine and hard ceramic structur will help raise your edge, keeping it straight a sharp. Over time the edge will be rounded off, making the shape of the edge more like a U and less like a V. It becomes increasingly difficult to bring back the sharpness and its high time to bring out the whetstones and give your knife a new edge.
Handle in black plastic with metal ring.
