This generously sized leather strop provides the ultimate razor-sharp finish for your knives. Made from the highest quality vegetable-tanned leather by Tärnsjö, we highly recommend this strop as a complement to your primary sharpening process.
Instructions for Use:
- Place the strop on a non-slip surface or secure it in a sharpening stone holder.
- Position the knife at the start of the strop and draw the blade forward, moving away from the edge (opposite to a cutting motion). Flip the blade and repeat.
- Perform a few strokes on each side until the edge feels sharp.
Key Tips:
- Maintain the same angle as the knife’s primary bevel, typically 12-15 degrees for Japanese knives.
- Aim for smooth and even strokes.
For Advanced Stropping:
You can treat the leather with oil, apply an abrasive spray, or use a polishing paste (e.g., Autosol or Tormek paste). However, we recommend using the leather untreated to avoid stickiness or stiffness when products dry. Over-polished edges can lose their bite and feel slippery when cutting tomatoes.
An untreated leather strop can become your best sharpening companion, always ready to deliver top-notch results on short notice.
