Saga| A mid-coarse whetstone with #500 grit. It quickly repairs chipped edges and is also suitable for thinning blades. This is a perfect clean-up stone with good coverage, for when you are progressing toward a nice kasumi finish.

Miyagoshi is located in Kyoto, Japan. The company specializes in manufacturing highly effective whetstones that remove metal at a rapid pace. The stone is very hard while also having a sandy feel. This combination is unusual as a sandy feel usually means that the stone is soft and dishes quickly. This is not the case with Miyagoshi, as the stone holds its shape very well and wears slowly. The stone grips the steel in an exemplary way, almost like rubber, and you really feel how it eats through the steel.

It is a soaking stone and we recommend keeping the stone in water for +10 minutes before use. We have rigorously tested the stones for a year where we left them in water for a couple of months without negative consequences.
