Nakayama Natural Stone

A medium-hard to hard Nakayama natural stone with a creamy, controlled feel during sharpening. It produces a medium-gloss kasumi finish and works very well as a finishing stone for kitchen knives.

On iron-clad blades, the stone produces a silky matte finish with strong contrast between the jigane and hagane. It is well suited for both kasumi polishing and as a final step for refining the edge after synthetic stones.

Nakayama stones are quarried in the mountains north of Kyoto and are among the most sought-after Japanese natural stones. Each stone is unique in its structure, hardness and sharpening feel.
